These words of French lawyer, diplomat, writer, and philosopher, Joseph de Maistre inevitably crop up where politics, democracy or governance is discussed. Put simply, leaders are an accurate representation of national psyche, attitudes and identity.
They are the fruits and the masses are the tree. Logically, this holds true. Leaders come from among the people and as such mirror the general composition of the populace.
In light of the above, can it be said that our political, religious, and social leaders are fruits of seeds we have sown? We moan a lot about what terrible leaders we have but perhaps we should remove the log in our eyes? What do you guys think?
